Thank you for choosing Caroline Taylor Properties for your Martha's Vineyard Vacation Rental. We have provided some information you may find helpful in making your rental transaction as smooth as possible. If you have not already reserved your Vineyard vacation rental, please browse our list of available rental properties. Then call us or email us with your preferences.

Processing Fee
A $50 non-refundable processing fee will be charged on each rental.

 

Linens and Towels, Baby Furniture, etc.
Sheets, pillow cases and towels are not provided in most vacation homes. As you will be responsible for supplying your own, please refer to the information on bed sizes printed in the letters that accompany your leases. If you need information regarding linen or baby furniture rentals, contact our office. Linen rentals are available through Takemmy Cleaners.

Telephone
You will most often need to use a credit card or cell phone for all long distance calls, including off-Island numbers in the 508 area code. Having a long distance block on the phone allows homeowners to return the security deposit faster because they don't have to wait for phone bills to come in. To make an on-Island call, you must dial the area code, 508.

Cleaning Your Vacation Rental
If, upon arrival, you find that your home has not been adequately cleaned, CONTACT CAROLINE TAYLOR PROPERTIES IMMEDIATELY! Failure to report this immediately or, even worse, cleaning the premises yourself, precludes any recourse we have in correcting problems.
Your lease agreement will outline your responsibility for cleaning your rental home upon your vacancy. If you do not wish to be bothered with cleaning chores, most homeowners retain cleaning personnel. Please notify us before your arrival if you wish to have the house cleaned during your stay or upon your departure.

Vacation Home Rules
Most rentals have "No pets" and "No smoking" restrictions that apply to every home. There are few exceptions to this rule unless the owner agrees beforehand. If you are found to be violating your lease, this is grounds for immediate eviction and for retaining your security deposit.

Reservations for Next Year
If you enjoyed your vacation home and would like to be given priority for next season, please let us know so that we can make the necessary arrangements.

Making Payments
A deposit equal to one-half the total rent is required to guarantee your reservation. This is due within 10 days of receiving your lease. The balance of the rent, plus the security deposit, must be paid 30 days prior to the commencement of your lease. You will be notified by mail as this day approaches. Please note: We do not accept credit cards. All payments must be made in U.S. dollars by cashier's check or money order. If you are making a reservation less than 30 days in advance, you must send full payment by wire transfer, money order, certified check, or cashier's check within 48 hours (i.e., overnight or second day air) to confirm your reservation. NO PERSONAL CHECKS WILL BE ACCEPTED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF YOUR ARRIVAL DATE.

Payment instructions for foreign transactions: Have your bank wire in U.S. dollars the total sum of the amount due, plus $20.00 for U.S. processing.

Refunds
There will be no refunds of any kind due to natural disasters, or due to mechanical failure of non-essential items such as fans, air conditioners, video equipment, dishwashers, washers, dryers or other luxury items. However, we will make every effort to have the problem rectified in a timely manner. If you must cancel your reservation you are responsible for the full rental amount. However, if the period can be rerented at the same rate, a 25% cancellation fee will be charged. See your lease for further information.

Your Martha's Vineyard Vacation Home
Your rental, be it cottage or mansion, is someone's home and deserves the same amount of respect you accord your own. As stated in your lease, the property you have rented is not to be used for functions such as wedding receptions, family reunions or any other gathering involving more than the maximum number of occupants specified in your lease agreement, unless permission has previously been obtained from the landlord.

Checking In to Your Martha's Vineyard Vacation Home
We will notify you of our check in procedures by mail prior to your arrival.

Checking Out - We Hope You Had a Most Wonderful Vacation on Martha's Vineyard
Keys to your vacation rental home must be returned to Caroline Taylor Properties by 10:00 a.m. on the morning of your departure. As specified in your lease, a $5.00 fee will be assessed for each key that is not returned. Please understand that it is difficult, at best, to prepare our houses between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. for the next guests. 10:00 a.m. is a firm check out time.

If you enjoyed your vacation home and would like to be given priority for next season, please let us know before you leave, or as soon as possible, so that we can make the necessary arrangements.
